Just North of Santa Barbara in Goleta is the majestic resort and spa called Bacara. A celebrity hang out for years, Bacara is so secluded and discrete, you would never see it from the highway or passing streets.
Turning into the drive is like entering a tranquil world all of its own. The lovely Spanish style buildings are surrounded by acres of luscious gardens, pools, spas, state of the art work out rooms; tennis courts, hiking trails, golf course, three restaurants, shops and personal bungalows. The three story tall Bacara Spa boasts extraordinary ocean views from its fully stocked pretreatment relaxation room. I was lucky enough to visit on a beautiful 80-degree day in the oftentimes-foggy California beach weather.
This oasis caters to all adult ages (20’s on up). I was quite surprised to see that this place also has a nightlife, live music, a packed circle bar, dancing, and lively conversation with some of the most stylish people of all ages sharing their adventures of the day. The main house bar is not only a favorite of guests, but a local secret as well for Santa Barbara’s elite.
Day one for me was a massage. Celebrities, international dignitaries and visiting royalty sometimes enjoy the Spa services available in the comfort of their own rooms. Everything available at the spa is also available as room services for those willing to pay the price.
Because of the nature of our visit Cherie had a special pass and was a very lucky dog indeed. On day two I had a customized environmental facial in the Spa. Traveling as much as I do and the extreme types of makeup I wear for work, nothing feels as good as a cleansing facial. It gets rid of dry skin, can remove sun damage, refreshes the skin and I highly recommend them.
After my facial Cherie, friends, and myself enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Spa Café. With all organic ingredients grown at the Bacara Farms. I enjoyed an Ahi tuna bee pollen spring mix Bacara salad and a smoothie of pineapple, passion fruit, strawberry, banana and bee pollen (which is said to detoxify and eliminate inflammation).
The luxurious feeling evoked is continued by “Bacara Water” a mixture of water with Cucumber and orange slices meant to refresh, rejuvenate and flush toxins.
The Bacara staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. Everyone, facialist, greens keepers, drivers, housekeeping, etc., was wonderful and helpful as could be.
Leaving Bacara is a bit like leaving Never Never Land; reality sets in, back to work, back to the freeways, back to the airport, back to life. Ahhh Bacara. If only we could take just a piece of what we learned there with us. Peace.
